Wenger Moor - Nature and bird protected area
The Wenger moorland is the largest natural marschland of the salzburger alpine
foreland, characterized by a mosaic from of different biotopes such as high -,
low-, and other moosen, dry and damp pastures, moorland forests and the
shipping zone of Wallersee.
The Wenger moorland also accommodates numerous endangered moorland-typical plant
types and represents at the same time a valuable breeding and rest area for
numerous, European-wide important kinds of bird, e.g. the quail king or the
eisvogel. Besides it is a home for many types of butterflies.
Kinds
of birds: Quail king, eisvogel, grey woodpecker, Neuntoener, dwarf tubing drum,
tubing pasture, large brook bird, Bekassine, Braunkehlchen, Feldschwirl.
